We are aware of the allegations of direct and institutional racism against Solace Women’s Aid. Solace is a member of Respect, and we’re reaching out to discuss this with them.
Respect has always been committed to the principles of anti-racism but we recognise this is not enough. Over the last year we have been working to become an actively anti-racist organisation, guided by a staff-led anti-racism working group, with representation from all levels of the organisation. We will be publishing a further statement later this year on our work towards becoming an anti-racist organisation.
We condemn racism in all its forms and believe any allegations must be taken seriously and fully addressed.
We have pledged our support for the anti-racism charter, and we’re committed to being part of the movement to end racism. We will work with others to push for change in our sector.
