Dr Purna Sen will be stepping down as Chair of Respect in June 2025.

Purna joined Respect at an exciting time, as we began delivering our ambitious new strategy, Stopping the Harm. Her leadership through this crucial period has seen us grow our portfolio of funded programmes. Respect is in a stronger position than ever to work with our partners, members and government to influence the forthcoming VAWG strategy and ensure that perpetrator work is embedded across it.

We warmly thank Purna for all she has done during her time as Chair and wish her all the best with her future endeavours.

Purna said: “Chairing Respect’s Board has been a fascinating experience. I am a strong believer in the new strategy, which offers much promise for future joined up work across practice, understanding and national change towards ending the perpetration of domestic abuse.

I look forward to continuing my relationship with Respect as an enthusiastic supporter in the months and years ahead.”

Jo Todd, Respect’s CEO, said: “I’ve known Purna for decades but hadn’t worked closely with her for many years, so it’s been a real pleasure to join forces as Chair and CEO. Purna is such an impressive, inspirational and big-hearted woman who puts her all into everything she does. She has been personally hugely supportive to me, and I, and everyone at Respect, will miss her and wish her well in her future work.”
