To celebrate Trustees' Week, we spoke to five of our Trustees about why they choose to spend their time supporting Respect.
It’s Trustees’ Week, and this year’s theme is “Making a difference in changing times”, a sentiment particularly relevant for us at Respect, as the charity has been going through a period of growth and change.
With more attention on - and funding for - perpetrator work, we’ve grown quickly to develop, deliver and support in this area. With this growth, comes new challenges, and we’ve relied on our trustees to support and steer us during this exciting period.

Lucy joined the Respect Board in 2022 as Treasurer. Lucy is currently Chief Operating Officer for National Zakat Foundation, a charity distributing grants to those in need in the UK. Lucy has been working in the charity sector for the last 15 years, in charities of different sizes and scopes, in a range of roles and with specialism in Finance and Governance
I’m the newest Trustee at Respect. I’ve become increasingly aware of the impact of domestic violence and was attracted by Respect’s mission to tackle the problem at its roots, by working with perpetrators.
I’m in senior management in a charity of similar size, and am used to thinking about what Trustees need to hear from management to do the Trustee role well. So it seemed a good fit for me to engage with Respect as a Trustee!
