Our vision is a world where it is never ok to control, harm or cause fear. Where everyone is free from domestic abuse. We prioritise the safety and wellbeing of our staff, members and the wider community. After careful consideration, Respect has made the decision to stop posting on the social media platform X for the foreseeable future.
This decision stems from growing concerns about the use of the platform, both by its users and its owner, to cause and encourage harm, promote misogyny and spread disinformation. We can’t, in good conscience, continue to engage on X in its current form. We are also aware of ongoing concerns about Meta, and we are keeping our use of this under review, while balancing the need to engage with our different audiences in a number of ways.
Respect remains committed to connecting with supporters, stakeholders, sector colleagues and those interested in our work and our mission to stop the harms done by those who perpetrate domestic abuse. While inactive, our X account will remain on the platform to enable people to easily find alternative ways to engage with us.
You can continue to connect with us in several different places:
Thank you for your ongoing support,

Changes for Respect members
One of the benefits that we offer to Respect members is the promotion of job adverts on Respect’s social media accounts. This has previously been primarily on X, but will move chiefly to LinkedIn, with other channels considered as appropriate. As a platform that is well used for job hunting and career development, LinkedIn is an ideal place to share opportunities from our members. Job adverts will also continue to be included in our newsletter, which is received by thousands of people interested in the sector.
If you have any questions, please contact Respect’s Communications Manager, Karima Rahman on [email protected].
We appreciate your understanding.
